The 7th District is positioned to help Baltimore reclaim its status as a manufacturing powerhouse. It just needs someone with the enthusiasm, energy and passion to tap its potential. Kim Klacik wants to maximize the potential of the Port of Baltimore and connect its world-class importing and exporting abilities with the I-270 Biotech corridor and West Baltimore’s Federal Opportunity Zone. This will bring manufacturing and medical supply chain industries back to the US through Baltimore, creating more high-paying careers with benefits and business opportunities for entrepreneurs in the District.
Many schools in the Baltimore region continue to fail our most vulnerable students. This is no longer acceptable. Families should have the ability to determine the best school that meets the needs of their children. School choice must include a 100% tax credit for all school-related expenses. Federal funding should follow students so parents can send their child to the private, charter, religious or home school of their choice.
Kim believes that we lose too many of our youth to violence each year. She will work to provide additional mental health services to our most vulnerable families.
Meaningful criminal justice reform must include all members of the system, including the district attorneys and prosecutors in our local, state and federal courts. We must do more to support our police officers who keep our community safe, and also remove police officers that abuse their power. Kim Klacik will work to address the criminal justice spectrum in its entirety, from police to the prosecuting system and incarceration through to more options to rehabilitate those leaving prison.
The high cost of healthcare is a huge impediment to small businesses being able to expand and hire more workers. Kim Klacik will work to drive down costs, in part through healthcare associations that give small businesses and individuals more options and more negotiating power.
Kim Klacik supports increased benefits for our veterans. She is also passionate about improving the quality of veterans’ healthcare.
Kim Klacik will not vote for any foreign wars that do not advance the interests of the United States. In keeping with her call for increased accountability, she will also be diligent about reviewing our foreign aid budget and ensuring it meets American needs.
Kim Klacik believes that individuals, families and small businesses have the right to protect themselves from those wishing to cause harm and unwell individuals. In particular, she believes that citizens should fully be allowed to protect themselves if and when the government fails to provide that protection.
In order to be proactive versus reactive when it comes to women’s health, Kim Klacik believes in making birth control available over-the-counter and increasing the number of women’s health providers in District 7 and across the country.
